What we build

Custom software development for operators: built to last, shipped tested.

Off-the-shelf software fits until your operation does something it cannot. Traide builds the part that is yours: the integration between your systems, the workflow nobody else has, the storefront or portal in your own design, the automation that replaces a spreadsheet. Scoped in a two-week sprint, built in weeks, and shipped with a regression test on every fix.

What it is

When custom software is the right call, and when it is not

Custom software is the right call when the work is specific to how you operate and the gap costs more than the build. The integration between the systems you already run, the workflow your competitors do not have, the portal your buyers or sellers use in your own design, the automation that retires a spreadsheet: each is yours because the operation is yours.

It is the wrong call when a product already does the job well enough and your process can bend to it. Our comparison of a hosted marketplace SaaS, a custom build and our own platform is the marketplace instance of that question, and the answer there is often not a custom build.

Between the two sit the cases we take most often: rescuing a codebase someone else built, which is taken over, stabilised and handed back maintainable; and building on a platform rather than from scratch, where the platform carries what every operation shares and the custom part is the part that is yours.

How Traide does it

One engineer, an AI fleet, and a gate at every step

Every build runs the same four moves, from the first call to production. The engineer who scopes it is the engineer who ships it.

  1. 01 · 2 weeksDiagnoseWe map your workflows, systems, and data to find where AI actually pays back — and where it doesn't.→ A prioritized opportunity map
  2. 02 · 2–4 weeksPrototypeA working proof on your real data, so the business case is built on evidence, not projections.→ A live pilot and business case
  3. 03 · 6–12 weeksBuildProduction-grade software — secured, tested, and wired into the tools your team already uses.→ A shipped, documented system
  4. 04 · OngoingOperateWe monitor, evaluate, and improve what we built, and train your team to own it.→ An AI ops retainer

One senior engineer with an AI fleet

A fleet of AI models drafts, searches and tests under a written brief; the engineer decides, reviews and answers for the result. Your team reviews every pull request, so what we leave behind is yours and readable.

A gate at every step

Every change goes through tests, lint, automated review and a reflection step before it merges. Since regression tests became mandatory, 96% of bug fixes to our own core API have shipped with one: 236 of 246 since June 2026.

More output at the same bar

Working this way, our monthly output has grown more than four-fold since December 2025, while the bar went up, not down. The pull requests are small and stacked, so each one can be read.

Proof in production

A wholesale specialty-food marketplace with over 2,000 items has run on software we built since 2022. Auto Hauler Exchange, a B2B vehicle-transport marketplace, launched in 90 days.

When the answer is not this

When not to

  • A product already does nearly all of it and your process can bend. Buy the product; Diagnose will say so.

  • The problem is a people or process problem, not a software one. Software would only harden it in place.

  • There is no owner on your side to make decisions in the two weeks. Diagnose needs someone who can say yes.

Questions

What people ask first.

How do you decide build vs buy?
In the Diagnose sprint, on your data. We map the work, measure what the gap costs you, and set that against what a product would cost to adopt, including the process changes it would force on you. If a product fits, the proposal says so. We build only the part that is yours: the integration, the workflow or the portal no product has.
Can you take over software someone else built?
Yes. Rescue is one of our five services. We take over the codebase, find the hot paths, stabilise it, and ship every fix with a regression test that reproduces the failure, then hand it back maintainable, with the documentation to prove it. We have done this on systems we did not write.
What do you need from us?
An owner who can make decisions in the two weeks of Diagnose, read-only access to the systems and data we are measuring, and an hour each with the people who do the work today. From Build onward, someone to review pull requests, so what we leave behind is yours.
Which stacks do you work in?
Our own multi-vendor marketplace platform, which we run in production for wholesale and B2B operators; Shopify Plus for stores with trade customers; or your existing stack. We scope each build on whichever fits the operation, not on what we would rather write.
How do you keep AI-written code honest?
With machinery, not promises. Every change goes through tests, lint, automated review and a reflection step, and a bug fix cannot merge without a regression test that reproduces the failure. Since that rule landed, 96% of bug fixes to our own core API have shipped with one. The engineer reviews and answers for every change.
The first move

Start with a Diagnose sprint

Two weeks, a prioritized opportunity map, one costed proposal. It says whether to build or buy, what to build first and what the build will take, before any code ships.

You'll talk to a senior engineer, not a sales rep, and leave with a clear first move — whether or not we work together.
