How Gourmet Food Marketplace Runs Wholesale Specialty Food on Traide

About Gourmet Food Marketplace

Gourmet Food Marketplace (GFM) is a wholesale marketplace for specialty food and beverages, built for independent retailers and restaurants. Buyers choose from over 2,000 specialty food and beverage items, from imported pantry staples to fresh cheese, meats and seafood, and can buy as little as one case.

The Challenge

A wholesale buyer wants to fill a shelf from many brands in one order. Behind that one order, each brand’s items have to be fulfilled, and each vendor paid its share. And GFM’s storefront is its own design, so everything behind it has to work through an API.

The Solution

GFM has run on our marketplace platform since 2022, headless: its own storefront sits on our commerce API, and its team runs the marketplace from our operator dashboard, on its own domain.

Fulfilment syncs from GFM’s warehouse system, and vendor payouts run every month from the platform’s double-entry ledger, so each vendor is paid its share of every order.

The Impact

One checkout across every brand

In GFM’s own words: “Thousands of proven SKUs. Full BBD transparency. One checkout.” A buyer fills a shelf from many brands in a single order and a single payment.

Built to carry the volume

We run GFM’s API on bounded worker threads that scale from 4 to 12 replicas under load. Its monthly payout runs on a database connection of its own, without the time limit the storefront’s requests have, so a month’s ledger is paid out in one run.
